West Mesa Bone Collector-  In 2009, a dog-walker made the gruesome discovery of human remains that led to something much more horrifying: A total of 12 female skeletons were uncovered by police which meant that Albuquerque, New Mexico, now had it’s very own unidentified serial killer.

Dental records later determined that all the women were prostitutes and their shallow grave turned into the largest crime scene in U.S. history. In spite of this, not a single shred of promising evidence was ever unearthed from this macabre dumping ground: No DNA, no sign of a weapon, no clothing fibers, nothing at all. The sex workers of the West Mesa area still live in fear of this unknown “Bone Collector”, even though no more bodies have been found. Who knows what happened to him? Did he move on to a different state? Whatever the truth may be, the Bone Collector’s identity remains a complete mystery.

In Jermaine Jackson’s book, “You Are Not Alone” he claims that “Smooth Criminal” was loosely inspired by the Richard Ramirez murders. The murders themselves occurred in ‘84/‘85, when Michael was reportedly turning out a ton of song lyrics/ideas for the “Bad” album.

Jermaine said that Michael never publicly disclosed his inspiration, because he knew it wouldn’t sound good for the then “squeaky clean” Michael Jackson to be writing a song based on a very real, very recent serial killer.

WHY DID I NEVER KNOW THIS MY WHOLE LIFE IS A LIE😒

‘’I was receiving so much negative publicity. I wasn’t going to give people the satisfaction of seeing me down. Besides, I didn’t feel down. Plus, the image I had projected was beyond me. The media had portrayed me as a cold-hearted, ruthless monster, but I’m really not that way. I’m very down to earth. So, at that time I let people think whatever they wanted to. You see or hear about the crimes and then imagine what kind of individual was behind them.’’
